embryo creation treatment

Embryo creation treatment

Have embryos created with your chosen Cryos egg donor and sent to your clinic for transfer.

At Cryos Clinic, you can customize your donor egg treatment according to your preferences and needs. If you would like to use a Cryos egg donor for embryo transfer at another clinic, you can order treatment with IVF/ICSI (Embryos). When choosing this option, the fertilisation of donor eggs will take place at Cryos Clinic, and suitable embryos (blastocysts) will then be shipped to your local clinic for transfer.

Your benefits when choosing treatment with IVF/ICSI (embryos)

  • Higher security for pregnancy with embryos instead of oocytes
  • Less eggs (oocytes) are needed, therefore less costs
  • Transfer can be done at your local clinic

How it works

When using a Cryos egg donor, you can choose to let Cryos Clinic manage every step of the donor egg treatment or involve another clinic for part of the process. Here you can read more about each step and learn about your options.

How to get started

If you would like to have treatment with donor eggs from Cryos, you simply follow our online ordering process:

  1. Start by finding your egg donor.
  2. For treatment with IVF/ICSI (embryos), select the preferred quantity.
  3. Let us know if you want to use sperm from a partner, a sperm donor from Cryos, or a sperm donor from another clinic/sperm bank, and whether you want Cryos to arrange shipping of the sperm.
  4. Choose how you want to proceed: Have the embryos sent to your clinic, store the embryos with us for future use, or have the embryo transfer done at Cryos Clinic.
  5. Add payment details and finalize your order.

Once you have completed your order, we will send you a confirmation email and start handling your order. If you have chosen a donor marked as ‘Upon request’, the egg donation process will now begin.

Blastocyst guarantee

At Cryos Clinic, we always strive to provide top-quality eggs and treatments. However, embryo development is a complex biological process influenced by both egg and sperm quality, and there is a risk that treatment may not result in viable embryos.

If you order treatment with IVF/ICSI (embryos) using both donor eggs and donor sperm from Cryos, we guarantee fertilisation and the development of at least one viable blastocyst (day 5 embryo) before freezing. The development of the embryos is documented with time-lapse footage. In the rare event (<5%) that the guarantee is activated, we offer a new treatment free of charge. Please note that the same donor may not necessarily be available for the second treatment.

The guarantee applies only to treatments using both donor eggs and donor sperm from Cryos, where we control the full process and are able to guarantee high-quality sperm. We cannot extend the guarantee to treatments using partner sperm or donor sperm from other clinics or sperm banks, as we cannot ensure the quality of the sperm.

What is the price of treatment with IVF/ICSI (embryos)?

The cost of treatment with IVF/ICSI (embryo) starts at EUR 3,959 for a single embryo, excluding shipping. The final price may vary based on your selected egg donor. If you purchase multiple embryos, you will receive a minimum 20% discount on each additional embryo.
The price includes:

  • Treatment process (including consultation, medical history review, diagnosis, and records)
  • Egg donor treatment (including screening, testing, medication, and egg retrieval)
  • Treatment with IVF or ICSI (fertilisation of donor eggs in the lab)
  • Embryo culture to the blastocyst stage
  • Time-lapse monitoring of embryos
  • Embryo freezing (if applicable)

Which egg donors are available?

At Cryos you can choose from the world’s largest egg donor selection. Our egg donors undergo an extensive screening process, including (but not limited to):

  • Assessment of medical and family history
  • Physical exam
  • Psychological assessment
  • Screening for infectious and hereditary diseases

When choosing an egg donor, here are some important things to know:
Each egg donor has a profile in our online donor search, where you can explore different levels of information to help you find the right match. Basic Profiles include essential details, while Extended Profiles offer more information, including a detailed list of physical traits, childhood photos, a handwritten message, a voice recording, and more.

Cryos egg donors are either ID Release or Non-ID Release, depending on whether they have agreed to allow identifying information to be shared by Cryos with children conceived from their donation once they turn 18.
Please note that not all countries allow all donor types. When having transfer in Denmark, you can choose between all our egg donors. If you plan for the transfer to take place outside Denmark, please make sure your chosen donor complies with the regulations in your treatment country.
Learn more about our different types of donors here.

Cryos Clinic does not assume responsibility for ensuring compliance with local regulations outside Denmark. It is your responsibility to verify and adhere to the legal requirements in your treatment country.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I have more than one embryo?

Yes, you will be asked to specify your preferred minimum quantity. If more blastocysts develop than your requested minimum, they will be yours at no extra cost.

What is the difference between unfertilised eggs (oocytes) and fertilised eggs (embryos)?

The key difference between unfertilised eggs (oocytes) and fertilised eggs (embryos) lies in their developmental stage. Unfertilised eggs (oocytes) must first undergo fertilisation before they can be used for transfer. For fertility treatment, clinics typically recommend using at least six unfertilised eggs, as not all oocytes will successfully develop into viable embryos.

Some may not fertilise, and others may not progress to the blastocyst stage, meaning the final number of transferable embryos can be uncertain.

In contrast, when choosing treatment with IVF/ICSI (embryos), you receive blastocysts that have already successfully developed to an advanced stage. This means a higher chance of pregnancy, as well as more predictability in your treatment, as you will know exactly how many viable embryos you have. Since you usually only need one or two embryos to achieve pregnancy, choosing treatment with IVF/ICSI (embryos) will in many cases be the most cost-effective option, reducing the overall cost of treatment.

How long can an embryo be stored?

According to Danish law, embryos can be stored up until the day the recipient turns 46. After this, they must be destroyed. This means that either embryo transfer at Cryos clinic or shipping of embryos from Cryos must be completed before you turn 46.
